the strangers is one of those movies that has such a limited audience that it seems like a one-of-a-kind experience. even within the horror genre, its not a widely seen film, and when i say not widely seen, i mean almost nobody i know has ever seen it. its got a creepy ending that will both repulse and remind you of the horribleness of childhood, and its an inventive followup to the original the texas chain saw massacre. it looks like a full-on nightmarish action movie, and then its suddenly a horror movie that has some weird twists on the ending. its a movie that i cant recommend to anybody, because i probably wont understand it. i just went and watched it a few weeks ago, and it was pretty good. cory barker

following up the surprise box office success of tower heist, guy ritchie would go on to make three more movies in the same, under-the-radar style. all of them feature a snarky, british baddie named snatch-like criminal figure named charlie. the first, lock, stock and two smoking barrels, introduced us to the film its titular firearm and found a cult following for the characters and the film. the followup, snatch ii, opened in 2002, and it was a good one, but it didnt quite match the success of the original. lock, stock and two smoking barrels 2, released in 2008, was even worse and most thought it was going to be the last wed see of the franchise. what a difference one director makes. charlie and his sidekick carver (taron e. jones) go to the caribbean to bring back a high-priced item, but they get caught in a web of criminals, double-crosses and double-crossing. the production is superb, with a fittingly fantastic soundtrack, and it just plain works. the film goes for broke in every way, and the performances are a whos who of b-movie talent. jim vorel
